For future coffee-business owners, statistics show, for some reason, that Jan, Apr, July, Oct and Dec are the peak months for coffee consumtion.

I love insanepolygon’s comics. From the newest one:

“Elites are getting a pay hike,
The smart, educated and talented are taking a hike,
You and I are getting GST hikes, fare hikes and price hikes.”

This time around was much better, although the place was less than filled on a wednesday night. The quality and freshness of the raw fish was good, and did not drop as we further ordered large quantities (5 guys can eat a lot of fish) which in my opinion is wonderful. Places which start giving lousier stock after a while just tarnish the standards of their place. And the staff and chef even entertained odd orders like “1 ebi tempura, 1 shishamo tempura and 1 hotate tempura on one plate”. However, i still yearn for english speaking waiters. Unless they start printing chinese on the menus, communcation is a pain. Also, compared to the chinatown outlet, the tempura here was on the salty side. Not oily which was good, but still the salt was overpowering.

Reminder that GST is going up soon.

For this senior group, the yardstick is based on two-thirds of the median income of the eight top-earning professionals in six professions.

The private sector benchmark now stands at $2.2 million.

But in the Administrative Service, the salaries for this category has remained the same as the level in the year 2000.

It stands at $1.21 million, which is 55 percent of the private sector salaries.

That works out to be from $100,000 a month increasing to $180,000. And you thought getting $10+k a month made you rich. In an article in Today, the lowest grade scale for senior servants in their 30s would earn $30,000 a month. Thats quite amazing for them to be getting more than CEOs of MNCs. There was also a mention that the former group would have to face the elections every 5years and thus their position would not be guaranteed. However, how many constituencies do you know of that actually get contested in the first place? And after that, how many of those actually have the incumbent lose? What strikes me the most is that it is precisely that they have such elections (ideally really competitive ones) so as to decide the best people to lead us. Using it as an excuse to give them more is illogical. If they want it so much, then work harder to earn themselves another term.
