Right or Left?

By biao

Although i hate to admit it, i can’t seem to change the direction i see it turn. And surprisingly, i see it go clockwise, which says right-brain, even though no one would say that of me. Odd.

THE Right Brain vs Left Brain test … do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise?

If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa.

Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS: uses logic, detail oriented, facts rule, words and language, present and past, math and science, can comprehend, knowing, acknowledges, order/pattern perception, knows object name, reality based, forms strategies, practical, safe

RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS: uses feeling, “big picture” oriented, imagination rules, symbols and images, present and future, philosophy & religion, can “get it” (i.e. meaning), believes, appreciates, spatial perception, knows object function, fantasy based, presents possibilities, impetuous, risk taking

    i see clockwise too!

  2. chris Says:

i can change direction!! ahahaha…. try concentrating on the shadow..beware once u change direction, you must use the same amount of concentration to make it turn back in the original direction haha!

ohmygosh so cool can! i saw it clockwise then i picked up chrissy’s tip and stared for eternity then it went anti. now i can make it go either way as and when i wish hahahaha. so COOL leh!

  4. biao Says:

whooo! Can alr. ahah… but when i don’t concentrate it switches back…

  5. hh Says:

I think the direction at first sight reflects the most accurate. If u concentrate and make it change, it’s only logical that we can see it otherwise because we’re supposedly having both sides of the brain functioning! No?

  6. hh Says:

Gosh… I think the change is freaky!! I can switch instantaneously within seconds… Biao, any physics or biological explanation for this?

  7. biao Says:

Well, being able to change means you can actively control which side you’re using so that would be a good thing right?

Er… dunno…. ask some psych major.

  8. hh Says:

Lol I’m studying psy… But I dun study enough to tell you…

Anyway, I found out an easier way to change it, it works better if u’re using IE instead of mozilla because the speed of rotation is much slower!

During the spin, when the both legs crosses ie. one leg is DIRECTLY in front of or DIRECTLY behind the other, TELL yourself consciously that the leg is otherwise. A certain amount of determination is needed to convince yourself. If you can, it’ll be much easier to switch than focusing on the shadow

i am under the impression that the dancer starts off turning anti-clockwise… then some time in will suddenly change direction to clockwise and stay that way…. is it?

    … just a passerby.

  10. hh Says:

no… the picture moves the same way permanently, it’s a perception of your mind that determines the direction.
